Marc Newson Glass Ashtray

As some of you will know Mark Hill is an expert on glass. He was contacted by a friend's sister a month or so ago who found what she thought was an interesting find in a charity shop in Hampshire. It was a Marc Newson ashtray, which is signed by the iconic designer. Mark Hill confirmed it to be a very good find and he suggested she put it on eBay as she might well be surprised by its worth. . .she's not a smoker. Well it's been on the eBay for a couple of days and it's already at £51. While Mark said its value might be adversely affected becuase smoking items have taken a hit recently it shows that if an item is by a collectable designer it will not matter. I'll keep you posted!
