Antiques Roadshow at the British Museum.

Calendar icon03rd Sep 10, 12:14 PM

Yesterday the Antiques Roadshow recorded at the British Museum. Although neither Mark Hill nor I was on the rota of experts we decided to pop along at the end of the day, as our office is just around the corner from the museum. We bumped into Will Farmer of Fielding's the auctioneers and Katy from our office took our picture outside the museum.

Displaying glass

Following my post about how interesting it is to see how people display their colectables I had an email from my friend Christine who lives in the Scottish Borders. She is on holiday on the Devon/Somerset border, not very far from Porlock Weir in fact, staying at her friend Jane's manor house and she sent me this picture of how she displays her collection  of 19th century glass. It makes for such an attractive display don't you think?

Finally. . .

Calendar icon01st Sep 10, 8:10 AM

. . . some wedding photos. I'm afraid these are not the best, although I really like this picture of Cara and Billy. I'm afraid our photos all went a little wrong, so the one of me is captured from a video. Still, these are just a teaser! We will have some 'proper photos' in about a week.

Hi-Ho!

Calendar icon31st Aug 10, 10:28 AM

. . .it's off to work I go. I had a lovely long bank holiday weekend that was even more appreciated after the build up to Cara's wedding and the festivities themselves.

No it's not where I'm working this week but I thought I'd give you due warning about next week's Antiques Roadshow which is taking place at Blair Castle, Blair Atholl in Perthshire on Thursday 9 September. The doors open at 9.30 am and as usual admission is free. I'll be there which makes me very happy as it means a trip home to Scotland, You can find out more details HERE

American Civil War Sale

Calendar icon26th Aug 10, 10:21 AM

Another web site which is always full of interesting articles is The Maine Antiques Digest. I spotted on there yesterday a piece bout a Civil War auction in America which netted $1.6 million. The highlight of the sale was a Confederate battle flag that sold for almost $60,000. You can read more HERE
