A fine George Ohr bulbous vase, covered in an unusual raspberry and white volcanic Glaze (some loss) on a glossy blue ground, underglazed firing line inside neck, stamped. 6in (15cm) high

Footnote:

This simple tapered form is the perfect backdrop for the interesting use of the Glaze. The unusual raspberry and white volcanic glaze on blue adds to the value. Ohr experimented with vibrant color glazes during the 1890's and combined with a vibrant form these are some of his most valuable pieces. Ohr's skill was in producing a very fine pottery in increasingly weird shapes. Taller pieces are always more desirable.
